LAUNCHING OF THE OFFSITE PRINTING OF 5YVC

Good news to all Marikenos, LTO just opened a new Satellite office inside SM Marikina Mall.  It will cater the printing of license Card.  The implementation of the Five Year Validity License Card, by LTO NCR employees as the “5YVC” started last 10 October 2016 with the issuance of the Administrative Order No. 2016-034, re: Rules and Regulations Providing for a Five-Year Validity Driver’s Licenses and Conductor’s Licenses. This in in accordance with the provisions of Republic Act 10930, amending provisions of RA 4136 otherwise known as Land Transportation and Traffic Code, particularly Section 23.

From October 10, 2016 to August 28, 2017, we have accumulated 3.6 million drivers and conductor’s licenses issued with the so called paper licenses” or
the Official Receipts (OR) used as license while the procurement and development of the system for the issuance of 5YVC is ongoing. Of the 3.6M backlog or paper licenses, 1.2M come from LTO-NCR.

The 5YVC is superior compared to the licenses issued in the past. It is laser – engraved in polycarbonate material, which is more durable and hard to copy. The security features are enhanced consisting of biometric features under the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) to ensure uniqueness every card produced and added information to complete the the necessary personal details of the licensee such as the blood type, the holder options to be or not be an organ donor and the person to be notified in case of emergency including the contact numbers.

The roll out of the 5YVC was on August 29, 2017. The enthusiasm of claimants reaulted to the influx of people in all 39 licensing units in NNCR. Some have to wait for hours to get their plastic cards.

To remedy this aituation, LTO NCR in cooperation with SM malls will open LTO kiosks in 6 malls in SM North EDSA, SM Fairview, SM Manila, SM Marikina, SM Southmall, SM Cherry Supermarket, specifically dedicated to printing/ distribution of the DL cards with 5 year validity. Negotiation with other mall owners is ongoing to open more LTO kiosks to address the backlog operation.

On 6 October 2017, two offsite kiosk located at the NCR Araneta Avenue and at SM Marikina will be launched.

Assistant Secretary Edgar C. Gavante, LTO Chief, expressed his thanks and appreciation to the management of SM Malls for providing LTO free spaces for offsite printing of Driver’e Licencs card with 5-year validity.

LTO DRIVER’S LICENSE BACKLOG PRINTING
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) implemented the 5-year validity driver’s license card starting
October 2016 in response to the call of President Duterte to lengthen the validity period for convenience of the public. However, the availabillty of the cards was delayed, thus, acumulating backlog printing of Over 5 miltion nationwide, For National Capital Region (NCR), the backlog reached i millon cards.

In its desire to provide promote issuance of the driver’s license cards to those who have already applied but without license cards yet, SM Supermall” assistance was sought to provide a Temporary Offsite Printiing Office iin selected malls from October to December 2017. The following malls are identifed to provide the service: SM Marikina, SM Southmall, SM Fairview, SM North EDSA, SM Manila and Cherry Shaw.

The LTO Temporary Offsite Printing Office at SM Marikina will be launched on October 6, 2017; opening of the LTO Temporary Offsite Printing Office in other malls will follow LTO officials who will grace the Events are: Chief/Assistant Sec. Edgar Galvante, Executive Director Atty Romeo Vera Cruz, NCR Regional Director Atty. Clarence Guinto and other NCR District Officers. Ms. Annie Garcia, President of
SM Supermalls will l likewise attend the launching. Alsoinvited to the launch are Mayor Marcelino Teodoro and Vice-Mayor Jose Fabian Cadiz.

Simultaneous with the iaunch of the Temporary Offsite Printing Office, a MOA signing between SM Prime Holdings, inc. and tand Transportation Office will take place at SM Marikina.

The event marked the global launch of merchandise from the upcoming film Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which saw excited Star Wars fans of all ages present to be among the first in the Philippines to get their hands on the products. This global launch event was held simultaneously in different countries and cities.
Toy Kingdom in partnership with The Walt Disney Company (Philippines) unveiled toys and merchandise from the upcoming film Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Star Wars fans had the rare opportunity to get a first look at the newest line of toys and collectibles, while toy collectors also had a glimpse of the limited-edition items.

The way Seriously Addictive Math (or S.A.M) has changed the way Filipino children appreciate math is undeniable. In a recent forum with LBC’s top officials, Atty. Raul Cortez, Corporate, External and Legal Affairs Director of Microsoft Philippines, shares that due to the 4th Industrial Revolution, technology has become ingrained in our lives and shape the way we live, work and interact. An established company, such as LBC, should be able to put systems in place so that they serve the needs of their customers while making sure that it is compliant with the requirements of the Data Privacy Act of 2012. This law protects the privacy of individual’s personal data while ensuring the free flow of information and growth of businesses, including the exchange of information via live and online transactions.
Atty. Cortez emphasizes that under the provisions of the law, an individual has the right to be protected whenever s/he decides to share personal information with any entity. This encompasses sensitive information such as an individual’s race, health information, education, religion, ethnic background, marital status, and even political affiliation.
For its part, the country’s leading name in remittance and cargo, underlined their efforts to combat cybercrime; guard themselves fully from breaches in cybersecurity and ensure that they are complying strictly to ensure the privacy of their customers’ data. LBC is committed and more than ready in its journey of compliance to implement appropriate organizational, physical, and technical measures – as required by the Data Privacy Act.
Mr. Dale Jose, Modern Workplace Solutions Lead of Microsoft Philippines, adds that the security perimeter in the workplace has now been changed. He said that data breach can often be a result of weak or stolen passwords, or when sensitive data is accidentally shared to the wrong person. Given these risks, Jose adds that customers who do online transactions have the right to be informed, to object, to access, to correct or rectify, to block or remove data, to have data portability, to file a complaint, and to be indemnified.
Given this scenario, LBC has begun adopting measures to conform to the Data Privacy Act.
